SBC66EC & SBC66ECL / === 24V Passive PoE Switch & PoE Injectors ===

This is a list of 24V Passive PoE Switches, and passive PoE injectors that can be used for supplying the SBC66EC with power via the network cable. The SBC66EC does not comply to the official 802.3af 48V PoE Standard, but uses passive PoE. Power (normally 24V) can be supplied on the spare Ethernet pairs, positive power must be on pair 4 and 5, and ground on 7 and 8. Voltage range can be from 7.5 to 40V.

================= Passive 24V PoE Switches ===================

This is an Ethernet switch with passive 24V PoE ports. It is a normal switch, but with 24V passive (not standard 802.3af PoE) PoE ports. It adds 24V power to the unused Ethernet pairs. Seems like this technique is normally called "passive PoE" or "24V Passive POE" or "Forced PoE". Note that most "Forced PoE" switches seem to put 48V on the unused pairs, which WILL NOT work for the SBC66EC!

----- Ubiquiti Networks ToughSwitch PoE -----
This seems like one of the best 24V Passive PoE switches. It is available in a couple of different models. For an overview of range, see this document. Details on this page and this newsletter.

- TOUGHSwitch PoE PRO is an industrial-strength, 8-port Gigabit switch with 150 watts of power capable of powering 24V or 48V devices. Output voltage is controlled by the software.
- TOUGHSwitch PoE CARRIER features dual TOUGHSwitch PoE PRO systems in a rack-mountable, 1U form factor with 300 watts of power supporting up to 16 devices.

Has 5 Passive PoE ports, max 500mA each. Cheap, available for between $60 to $80 on eBay, Amazon and other online stores.

Available from Amazon and other online shops. Search for "POE-FSH8PW"

- TP-SSW5-NC 5 Port PoE Switch. Places supplied power on the unused Ethernet pins 4,5(V+) and 7,8(V-).

A 8-Port 24V Passive PoE switch, with built in 120W power supply. Can supply 30W per channel.

Webserver Firmware / V101 of SBC66EC and SBC66ECL firmware

Have new version of firmware on web, V101. It includes LCD2S commands. For details on how to use it, see documentation here. You can write to the LCD display in your code, or from the Netcruzer USB Terminal. You have to download the new Netcruzer USB Terminal for new feature that allows you to send commands to the Netcurzer board. For information how to write to the LCD display from the firmware, click here.

Netcruzer USB Terminal - PC App / === USB Terminal ===

The USB Terminal is a Windows application used for sending and receiving messages to and from a Netcruzer board via USB. Can be compared to HyperTerminal, but uses USB in stead of Serial Port. It uses the USB HID Class, so no drivers are required. Is currently used in Webserver Project for sending Error, Warning and Information debug messages, and for requesting custom information (see debugService() function in "debug.c").

It is written in C, with Qt, and can be compiled for Linux or Mac. Full source code can be downloaded here:

Netcruzer USB Bootloader - PC App / === USB Bootloader ===
