DEVKIT44B Bootloader Question
« on: September 06, 2005, 10:53:49 AM »
I just purchased the DEVKIT44B.  The site for the bootloader  http://www.microchipc.com/PIC16bootload/ claims to support linux as the host and the code compiles and executes under linux.  However, I can't get it to communicate with the DEVKIT44B.  I can use minicom to send characers to the board and they are displayed on the console, and using the supplied serial cable I can send characters between the two serial ports on my linux box.  So I'm sure the serial ports on my computer and the cable are good, and the DEVKIT44B can receive characters.  The documentation says to use 56000 baud.  That is not an option under linux.  Is this really the baud rate this is set to use?

Hello

The documentation on www.microchipc.com is wrong, it should be 57600 of course. Sorry, I never use Linix. Would like to, but for the PIC everything is windows based.

Hi, That is what I thought and I thank you for the confirmation.  It turns out the linux version of the downloader software was configured to require handshaking using modem control signals.  I disabled this and it now works fine.

Thanks for your quick response.
