RS-485 with general I/O pins
« on: February 10, 2013, 01:28:20 PM »
Hi All,

I have a project that requires 2 RS-232 and another 2 RS-485 interfaces. The two USARTs on SBC65EC are fine to support the 2 RS-232. Now, to support the 2 RS-485 interfaces I'd like to use general purpose I/O pins and to control them by a software routine. So, the question is: Is there such a software routine already available? In other words, I'm looking for a routine that uses a few general I/O pins to implement a serial interface (9600baud would be enough).

Thank you in advance,
Apostolis

Hi, you can search www.microchip.com site and forum for "Software Serial Port" or "Software USART". I looked for this couple of years ago, and there were plenty of examples.
